Addo Half-Day Safari
Three hours at the waterholes, when the elephants come down to the water. Choose a morning or an afternoon departure.
The heat of the day is the point
It sounds counterintuitive, but the best elephant sightings in Addo often come during the warmer part of the day. That is when the herds head for the waterholes, and when you get to watch them play and swim rather than simply walk past.
On a hot summer day it is the most entertaining thing in the park. Your guide will explain the history of Addo along the way and why the elephants are so dependent on these particular waterholes.
Nature being nature, the rest is not scripted. Lion, buffalo and rhino all turn up on this drive from time to time, but nobody can promise them.
How the drive runs
The same route runs in the morning or afternoon. Tell us which you would prefer when you book.
Pick-up from your stay
From the Homestead, The Silos, Beyond Cui Bono or the Farmstall. Bottled water and soft drinks travel in the vehicle.

Exploring the park
A shorter drive that leaves room for the rest of your day, while still covering some of Addo’s best wildlife areas. Your guide chooses the route around recent sightings to make the most of your time in the park.
